Even though i have no idea why this works, after trying everything else on the internet, simply deleting the libqxcb. so file from the pyqt plugins solved the issue for me. This error typically occurs when qt widget applications cannot load the xcb (x11) platform plugin, even though the plugin file (libqxcb. so) is present in the system.
