I love fern. The way i interpret fern is a metaphor for growing up and not recognizing yourself. I watched the show as a child and this kind of spoke to me.
I highly, highly doubt fern has better mana suppression than frieren, judging from that confrontation scene with aura. It took frieren 1,000 years to perfect her suppression enough to fool aura, and that Γ’β¬Β¦ Fern is supposed to think of herself as a Γ’β¬Εgood girl. Γ’β¬Β her outrageous behavior towards her teacher- the silent treatment, demanding snacks, constantly pouting. Sooner or later someone would point that out Γ’β¬Β¦ Fern is a really great depiction of a teenage character with issues.
