I was wondering whether alma mater refers to all the schools you have been in, or just to the one from which you received your ba, bsc, or a similar degree? For example, suppose someone has an Not really, 'in school' is perhaps more common american english while 'at school' is more british but both are equally 'correct'.

In english usage, should one use high-school, high school, or highschool? (assume american english; I understand that the brits call it secondary school. )
