In hindu mythology, the vajra is a powerful weapon having the combined features of sword, mace, and spear. It was created out of hard thigh bones of sage dadhichi who gave up his life willingly for a Ò€¦ In buddhism as a whole vajra refers to (1) a geographic location - vajrasana, (2) a body posture - vajra asana, and to a (3) concentrated mental state - vajra samadhi.

There is an elaborate system of correspondences between the five elements of the noumenal side of the Ò€¦ Vajra means indestructible, and refers to the primordial condition of the individual, which is beyond birth and death. The bell, which represents sound, is the symbol of the energy of the primordial state.
